ESSE Turns Up The Heat

CELEBRITY chefs displayed their culinary talents cooking on stove maker ESSE’s latest range at the River Cottage food fair

Yotam Ottolenghi, Tim Maddams, Gill Meller, Masterchef finalists, Billy Wright and Jack Layer, and Bake-Off semi-finalist, Chetna Makan, all tested out the eye-catching electric cookers.

Springwatch presenter Kate Humble, who is a huge fan of ESSE’s range, was also on stage to help out.

ESSE was one of the main sponsors of the River Cottage food fair, held in Devon.

More than 500 people watched Yotam Ottolenghi prepare a mouth-watering dish of sustainably-caught pollack with tahini and a grilled radicchio salad.

And around 7,000 visitors attended the food fair, which was packed with cookery demonstrations and masterclasses, food and craft markets, foraging walks and farm tours.

ESSE has been manufacturing goods in the UK since 1854, and every heating or cooking appliance is entirely hand-built by the skilled workforce in Barnoldswick, Lancashire.

An emotional Hugh thanked the chefs and visitors for their continued support which helped make the event a success.

Members of the original River Cottage cooking team were also reunited for a lively challenge. Chaos reigned as host Steve Lamb attempted to control the situation while Tim Maddams, Gill Meller and Pam ‘the Jam’ Corbin all battled for prime spot on the ESSE demo cookers.

ESSE’s brand new 990 ELX electric range cooker took pride of place in the stylish and practical Ashgrove Kitchens stage, where headline chefs prepared a banquet of delightful dishes using seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients.

ESSE specialists Rangemoors demonstrate the Bakeheart and Warmheart stoves – the latest additions to the best-selling Ironheart range.

The company has recently re-opened its factory café to the public, with the new menu designed by former River Cottage head chef, Tim Maddams, and Michelin-trained pastry chef, Dominique Ashford.

The cafe’s relaunch coincides with the opening of the refurbished showroom and demonstration kitchen, which now showcases a selection of classic ESSE stoves and cookers.
